Webinar: Comorbidity Index for powering population health

Learn how to unlock the power of the data you already collect to improve your understanding of patient populations and how disease burden impacts quality and financial outcomes by signing up for the upcoming webinar, free from LUMEDX.

The 30-minute session titled “Powering Population Health and High-Performance Cardiovascular Care with the Elixhauser Comorbidity Index” on Wednesday, December 4, will address how analytics are making evidence-based patient care a reality—by giving doctors and service line leaders the data they need when they need it.

LUMEDX's Comorbidity Index content pack, a feature of HealthView Analytics (HVA), can provide insights into how disease burden affects readmissions and morbidity, as well as help you identify high-risk patient populations based on comorbidities. Originally developed in 1998 by Anne Elixhauser, Ph.D., senior research scientist with the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), the Elixhauser index is a method for predicting hospital resource use and in-hospital mortality based on ICD-9-CM and ICD-10 diagnosis codes found in administrative data that has been updated frequently over the years. More recently, a weighting algorithm was developed, based on the association between comorbidity and death, in order to produce an overall score.

Matthew Esham, Director of Business Intelligence at LUMEDX, is a former CV service line manager at Christiana Care and understands the struggle hospitals face managing quality and controlling costs while transitioning to episode-of-care or value-based payment models. During this webinar, Esham will show you how HVA content packs give you the innovative tools to triumph in the battle against rising costs and declining contributions—all while providing the best possible care to your patients.
