Despite the constraints of a completely online model, LUMEDX’s first-ever Virtual User Group Conferences were a resounding success—even offering up some silver linings such as increased attendance.
The events were held as an alternative to the regular in-person conferences LUMEDX has hosted for almost two decades—on the day before the annual Society of Thoracic Surgeon Advances in Quality & Outcomes (STS-AQO) and the American College of Cardiology (ACC) Quality Summit—both also held virtually this year.
Due to the virtual nature, both the STS and ACC User Group Conferences had much higher participation rates—more than triple the usual—plus dozens of LUMEDX employees who appeared on video, allowing clients to put faces with names and voices. There were plenty of opportunities for participants to chime in with questions and feedback during breaks and presentations, and each daylong event concluded with a LUMEDX-hosted Happy Hour.
“We are so thankful for the opportunity to meet our clients—especially during a pandemic,” said Robin Jamison, LUMEDX Vice President, who co-emceed the event. “We share their passion for managing data and improving patient care quality, so using hosting these conferences and imparting information about how to do this better is a real honor.”
LUMEDX will continue to use some form of the virtual model in 2021 and beyond, even as in-person meetings and conferences resume—good news for those who have missed out due to travel or budgetary restrictions.
“I haven’t been able to attend onsite events in a few years,” said AnnMarie Bowman, Manager, Cardiovascular Data & Quality Services, at MidMichigan Medical Center Midland. “It was great seeing you all and I hope you continue these very informative meetings virtually.”
“Thank you to everyone,” said Michael Donathan, RN, Clinical Data Abstraction for STS at The Christ Hospital. “You did a great job! You all are having way too much fun!”
Allison Donnalley, Heart & Vascular Clinical Data Analyst III from UC Davis Medical Center, echoed his thanks: “Great webinar today,” she said. “Everyone was so informative.”
