Philips Medical Systems and LUMEDX Corporation Integrate Technologies to
Offer Enterprise-Wide Cardiovascular Solution for Advanced Information Management
January 28, 2002 Philips Medical Systems, a division of Royal Philips
Electronics (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHI), and LUMEDX Corporation featured today a unique,
comprehensive and fully integrated cardiovascular information solution at the
Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) annual meeting
in Atlanta, GA. The offering is comprised of Philips' extensive line of clinical
information management systems interfaced with LUMEDX Corporation's Apollo Advance
cardiovascular information system (CVIS).
"Philips is excited to work with LUMEDX to provide cardiac centers with
powerful tools to manage data effectively, supporting the delivery of quality
patient care while promoting productivity and profitability," said Steve
Rusckowski, chief executive officer of Cardiac and Monitoring Systems, Philips
Medical Systems. "By making it possible for hospital-based diagnostic technology
and patient data collection to interface, we are helping clinicians provide
better medical care - faster to their patients."
The powerful combination enhances the treatment of cardiovascular disease by
providing cardiologists with a broader analysis of clinical patient data, and
administrators with insight into all aspects of productivity and profitability
within the cardiology department. It allows users to share and view data that
has been collected by Philips' various modality-specific applications, such
as the market-leading EnConcert echocardiography management system and TraceMaster
electrocardiogram (ECG) management system. Other integrated Philips applications
include Zymed Holter and Cambridge Heart stress management. Philips will deliver
a robust clinical information management system for catheterization labs later
this year. An Apollo Advance interface to the Philips cath lab system is also
under development.
"By further integrating our systems we are able to offer our many clients
a more valuable solution that enables them to enhance patient care, improve
workflow, manage costs and maximize revenues," said Laurel A. Shearer,
senior vice president, LUMEDX Corporation. "Offering Apollo Advance with
the various Philips applications results in a much larger and richer solution
for our clients - tying together and fully integrating data from all the cardiovascular
service lines and HIS."
