LUMEDX Intranet Solution Under Beta Testing At Massachusetts General Hospital
-Intranet Technology Links Heart Physicians at one of Nation's top hospitals-
Bellevue, WA-March 16, 2001-LUMEDX Corporation (formerly Seattle Systems, Inc.)-the market leader in cardiovascular clinical information systems-today announced the debut of its Intranet product, CardioChart.netTM, the healthcare industry's first Intranet portal designed to make physician-generated cardiovascular patient reports available anywhere on the healthcare network via a Web browser.
The Intranet version of CardioChart.netTM has entered beta testing at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), ranked internationally as a top cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery center. CardioChart.netTM allows authorized physicians and clinicians at MGH to view cardiovascular reports generated through Apollo Advance, LUMEDX's clinical data repository, integrating demographics, surgical, history, and other patient information within a database.
"This solves one of our big data delivery problems," said Eugene V. Pomerantsev, MD, Ph.D., Director of Information Systems for the Knight Center for Interventional Cardiovascular Therapy at Massachusetts General Hospital. "We will now have the capability to view history data and discharge notes from anywhere on our network."
For busy cardiologists and cardiothoracic surgeons, CardioChart.netTM provides a unique convenience: they are now able to view patient reports in their offices, or on any Intranet workstation in the hospital. In the past, Apollo Advance reports were available only through dedicated workstations in surgery suites, or on patient floors where physicians make their daily rounds.
"We have thousands of workstations," Pomerantsev said. "With CardioChart.netTM we don't need to configure these workstation to view reports; all we need is a Web browser. This is a wonderful tool that integrates Apollo Advance's data collection power with a vast, secure Intranet network."
Through the versatility of a hosted-delivery model, LUMEDX will offer the power of Apollo Advance in a more affordable, remotely hosted environment. Hospitals and clinics will essentially 'subscribe' to Apollo Advance hosted and have their data managed for them in a secure, HIPAA-compliant data center.
"Our Internet site CardioChart.comTM is also the delivery portal for LUMEDX's hosted version of Apollo Advance", said Allyn D. McAuley, Co-founder and CEO of LUMEDX Corporation. "CardioChart's hosted platform fits the needs of any hospital, from a standalone facility to a large, integrated network," McAuley said.
