Kaiser Permanente, California Using LUMEDX’ Cardiovascular Clincial Information System To Improve Efficiencies

—Apollo Software Enables Three Sites in California to Aggregate and Interpret Cardiovascular Data, Standardize Care—

OAKLAND, CALIF.—May 9, 2000—LUMEDX, Inc. (SSI)—the market leader in cardiovascular clinical information systems—today announced the implementation of its Apollo32™ SQL Server cardiovascular clinical information system in three of its California facilities. One of the nation’s top ranked health plans, Kaiser Permanente serves 5.9 million people in the state of California. Kaiser Permanente will use Apollo32 to integrate its administrative and clinical cardiovascular information—gathered from hardware and software sources in three of its facilities in Northern and Southern California—into a single, comprehensive database.

Apollo32 will enable Kaiser Permanente’s cardiovascular physicians and hospital administrators to view comprehensive patient data and benchmark clinical cardiovascular outcomes data. The participating facilities will be able to compare each other’s concurrent cardiovascular reports, then create workflow efficiencies, develop best practices and standardize care across their organizations.

"We anticipate that Kaiser Permanente’s use of Apollo32 will set an efficiency example for other large organizations," rallied Allyn D. McAuley, CEO of SSI. "Kaiser Permanente is taking the first step in making the dataworkfor its clinicians and administrators"

The 90-day implementation period will be guided by an on-site team of SSI specialists and will include workflow analysis, management consulting and training services.

Kaiser Permanente joins more than 250 of the nation’s cardiovascular centers that use the Apollo software, including Stanford Medical Center, Massachusetts General Hospital and Baylor Medical Center, Dallas.
