Seattle Systems' Apollo32Cardiovascular Information System and CardioChart.com Internet site Selected by Massachusetts General Hospital
Oakland, California--October 29, 1999 Seattle Systems, Inc., a top-tier provider of clinical information management systems for hospitals and integrated delivery networks, announced today that Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), an 820-bed world-renowned medical center, named the nation´s third best hospital in 1999 by U.S. News and World Report, will install Seattle Systems´ Apollo32 Cardiovascular client/server clinical information management system. Additionally, MGH has agreed to "pilot" Seattle Systems´ newest Web technology offering, CardioChart.com. CardioChart.com is a secure Internet portal dedicated to the cardiovascular healthcare community of patients, physicians, and administrators and is the only site to provide access to physician-generated cardiovascular patient records and clinical outcomes.
The decision to implement Apollo32 was based on MGH´s critical need to automate the data management process within the Cardiovascular Services department. Apollo32 meets this need by providing unique integration of data throughout the department via a relational clinical data repository. Apollo Clinical Patient Database, interfaced to six Witt Biomedical hemodynamic monitoring systems, and the Diagnostic & Interventional Cath, Cardiac Surgery modules.
The Apollo product line has been embraced by the healthcare community worldwide, largely due to its robust SQL Client/Server data repository, ease-of-use and functionality. Seattle Systems´ state-of-the-art Apollo system provides users with comprehensive integration, pulling data from multiple sources - ADT systems, hemodynamics monitors, EP monitors, ECG management systems, to name a few. Apollo32 delivers workflow automation to the entire cardiovascular services department, promoting the delivery of high quality, cost effective care.
Dr. Stephen Oesterle, Director of the Invasive Cardiology Service at MGH, said, " We desperately needed a system that could capture, manage, analyze and store complex clinical data, in real time, from diverse sources. We also needed a system that would interface with a variety of devices and automate the production of final patient reports". Regarding MGH´s agreement to "pilot" Seattle Systems´ CardioChart.com product, Dr. Oesterle stated, "Cardiology is the largest specialty within the MGH Department of Medicine, it is essential that our physicians have access to patient records when and where they need it in order to achieve new efficiencies, control costs, and deliver quality care".
"CardioChart.com not only provides secure access to patient information, it also provides current benchmarking data via the Data Guide feature, letting our customers measure their performance against their peers", states Allyn McAuley, CEO of Seattle Systems. "We are enthusiastic about partnering with MGH on both the Apollo32 product line as well as CardioChart.com. The profile of MGH makes them a perfect candidate for the innovative technology solutions we offer. Seattle Systems and MGH together, have embraced the technology needed to be successful in the next millennium".
