HHS Names New HealthCare.gov CEO 

According to Government Health IT, Health and Human Services Secretary Sylvia Burwell has named the new federal marketplace CEO -- Kevin Counihan, the current CEO of Access Health CT. Counihan's role will be to lead the federal exchange and manage relationships with state-based exchanges. 

CMS Returns One-Third of Open Payments Data Due to Errors 

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) have announced that it has returned one-third of records submitted to manufacturers and group purchasing organizations due to errors. CMS is requiring that flagged records must be corrected and resubmitted in order to ensure that there is accurate information in the Open Payments database. 

DoD Opens Bidding for Massive EHR and IT Modernization 

Government Health IT reports that the Department of Defense is now looking to replace outdated legacy healthcare systems and is accepting proposals for its technology modernization initiative. Christopher Miller, Program Executive Officer for Defense healthcare Management Systems, said: "We are not just buying an off-the-shelf system; we're really looking to modernize how the department delivers healthcare."
